On the occasion of the anthological exhibition devoted to “Francesco Vella. Visions of art: the search for the sign in painting” at the Spazio Officina in Chiasso, a contemporary dance performance will be presented by Elena Boillat, interpreting Vella’s visionary spirit, in a magical interaction between artwork and the postures of the body.
With reference to the research conducted by Elena Boillat and the combination of observation, relationship and emotion, a dance interpretation will be presented to the public in relation to some of Vella’s exhibited works. This compositional act will involve live gestures, placed in dialogue with the work of art within a collective path of observation/relationship: looking at the work, enjoying the dance, feeling the emotions…
Elena Boillat graduated in the Disciplines of the Arts, Music and Performing Arts from the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy of the University of Florence and specialised as a performer and dancer at the Accademia d’Arte Drammatica Paolo Grassi in Milan in the three-year atelier of Theatre Dance. She has long explored the perceptual mechanisms that underlie the vision of a work of art and the ways they influence the state of the body set before it.
Boillat has created a dance mediation project called “Mimesis Museo Danza”, with which she won the 2017 Canton Ticino competition, active in many museums in Switzerland. This experimental project presents the dancing of the public itself as the protagonists, called on to relate to specific artworks (collections and/or temporary exhibitions) in museums, through the extraordinary medium of body language.
